SEEd – From Vision to Development
The SMART Education Ecosystem (SEE) is grounded in a defining idea: to see education differently in order to transform it intentionally and sustainably. In English, “see” conveys vision — the ability to understand, interpret, and rethink educational realities.
From this vision emerges SEEd, where the added “d” represents development, and where the word itself evokes the idea of a seed. A seed planted through collaboration, nurtured by research and practice, and cultivated within real educational contexts.
The SEEd events mark key milestones in this developmental journey. They are not merely institutional gatherings, but moments where vision becomes commitment and where the ecosystem gains tangible expression.
As we move toward SEEd II, the seed continues to grow — strengthened by reflection, cooperation, and shared responsibility. What began as vision is progressively becoming structured development, rooted in practice.
SEEd I
SEEd I, held on March 15, 2025, in Vila do Conde, marked the public affirmation of the SMART Education Ecosystem within the municipality. More than a presentation event, it represented a moment of convergence between scientific research, pedagogical practice, local governance, and the business sector, establishing a structured milestone in the development of the project across the territory.
Promoted within the framework of the Institute of Education of the University of Minho and the Research Centre on Education, the event brought together researchers, policymakers, school leaders, teachers, and technology partners, strengthening the articulation between academic knowledge and educational practice.
The most symbolic moment was the signing of the cooperation protocol between the institutional partners, including the Vila do Conde City Council. This formal act represented a shared commitment to the development of the ecosystem, consolidating the collaboration between university, schools, municipality, and technology partners.
SEEd I took place in the dedicated space conceived within the project — an environment designed according to the principles of the framework and structured to reflect the articulation between Space, Technology, Teaching, and Pedagogy. In this setting, the vision of the ecosystem gained tangible expression, symbolizing the transition from scientific conceptualization to practical implementation across the municipality.
SEEd I thus marked the beginning of a sustained process of development, grounded in institutional cooperation and oriented toward the integrated transformation of educational practices in Vila do Conde.
